In many ways buying a property in the USA is simpler than it is here in the UK. Instead of having one firm of solicitors acting for the buyer and another set for the seller, the whole transaction is handled through an Escrow company which acts in the interests of both parties.
Step 1
You contact us on to discuss the sort of home you are looking for, the optimum location and the sort of price you are looking to pay.
Step 2
We come up with a number of options that fit your criteria and suggest some dates when you might be able to visit California for 2 - 3 days to see the properties and locations and get a little taste of life in the sunshine.
Step 3
You decide on a property and a contract will be drawn up between yourselves and D.R. Horton. These are quite long and detailed documents in the USA but the Escrow Company will take you through it point by point.
Step 4
Once you've agreed and signed the contract you pay a deposit to the Escrow company and a completion date will be agreed. If the property is already built it could take as little as one month.
Step 5
You choose the internal specification you want with D.R. Horton’s Interior Design company. You can do this from the UK as they will send over suggestions for carpets, tiling, kitchen units and anything else you require to personalise your new home. It’s all part of the service.
Step 6
When everything is completed to your satisfaction, it’s time to move in and enjoy your home and all the amenities surrounding you. You'll also discover that D.R. Horton provide an Aftercare service that's second to none, to deal with any little teething problems that might crop up.
Step 7
Relax with a glass of local bubbly. You’ve just bought a home in California.
